Developing your male leadership team

Men in teams often revert to traditional stereotypes: competing, arguing, attacking. That's what men have been taught. That's often how male groups at work operate.

Most “manager mental health training” is one slide on signposting and a poster of the Samaritans number. That’s not training — that’s a tickbox. Stuart’s manager training is the actual practice your managers have been missing.

What managers leave with

  • A simple, repeatable way to ask “how are you?” and actually get an answer.
  • Confidence to stay in a difficult conversation instead of escalating it to HR or quietly avoiding it.
  • An understanding of where your responsibility ends and a professional’s begins — and how to make that handoff well.
  • A small set of phrases and questions they can use the same day they walk out of the room.

Format

A half-day or full-day session for cohorts of 6–15 managers. Heavy on practice, light on theory. Stuart pairs people up, gives real scenarios, and coaches them through it on the spot. Optional follow-up coaching call 4 weeks later to debrief what’s working.

Best for

People managers in male-dominated industries, line managers in growing teams, HR Business Partners who keep getting pulled into wellbeing conversations they didn’t train for, and EAP coordinators who want their managers to handle more of the easy 80%.

Practicalities

Format: half-day (£1,200) or full-day (£2,000) + travel. Run at your location UK-wide or at The Secret Space in Hertford. Lead time: 4 weeks.
